5 Tips for the Most Comfortable Bed Ever
5 Tips for the Cosiest Bed Ever
Is your sleep as comfortable as it could be? At Wellington Beds we can provide you with the best possible mattress, one suited perfectly to your own body. But there’s even more you can do to ensure a great night’s sleep! Read on for some finishing touches we recommend to enhance your night-time comfort, especially in these sticky summer months when many people find it hard to sleep.
Step 1: Choose your pillow carefully
The wrong kind of pillow can cause a whole range of problems - disrupted sleep, neck ache, even back pain. Luckily we’re spoilt for choice in terms of today’s range. There are feather down pillows, memory foam, polyester, and plenty of natural options to choose from. Each has its own benefits but we think the best way is to try lying on them yourself. Different people have different preferences, so shop around until your head feels both supported and comfortable. Don’t be scared to invest a little money in a good one - you’ll be using it every night after all, and a good sleep is priceless.
Step 2: Thread count
This is how the quality of sheets is determined. Thread count means the number of threads that are woven into a single square inch of fabric - the higher the count, the higher the quality. Egyptian cotton is another feature to look for when buying good sheets, it’s smooth and resilient. We recommend 100 per cent Egyptian cotton with a minimum 200 thread count as a benchmark for a good quality sheet, but you can always go higher!
Step 3: Make your bed fragrant
This might sound a little strange, but the advice comes from a reliable source! The National Sleep Foundation have said that certain smells can help you sleep. For example, lavender scents are known to decrease blood pressure and make you feel more relaxed. Reap the benefits of these calming scents by using aromatic oils and candles. Use the scented products for an hour or two prior to bedtime and your brain will begin associating them with sleep. Just remember not to fall asleep with a candle still burning!
Step 4: Tuck your sheets in
Having your sheets and duvet cover twist around while you sleep is annoying, and can be a contributing factor to disrupted sleep. Everyone loves the feeling of being snugly tucked in, but many of us don’t make the effort. Do it! Pretend you live in a hotel room - smooth your sheets and tuck those corners properly. You’ll thank yourself later when you’re enjoying a blissful sleep.
Step 5: Use a mattress cover
Mattress covers are more important than you might think. Most modern ones protect against allergens and dust mites. You can also get speciality ones that are stain resistant, even waterproof (this makes them particularly good for children’s beds). They also add another soft, springy layer to your mattress for a little extra comfort.
So if you’re tossing and turning each night why not give some of these strategies a shot? They may sound like small things, but they can make a big difference to your overall comfort. And if you’re dissatisfied with the mattress itself talk to Wellington Beds today. Our friendly team will guide you through all the steps of choosing the perfect bed for you.
